Washington, D. C. CO SUMMARY August 29, 1945 9:45 AM CORCORAN contacted Mr. LEVIS at Toledo, Ohio, through Operator 30. LEVIS said he had received a copy of the Cincinnati fellow's recommenda- tion for board certification. CORCORAN has seen this and he said it still has to pass the board. The decision is in the teeth of a decision by the Board (WLB) in the Continental Oil case. CORCORAN said the local board would uphold Cincinnati decision by 2 to 1. CORCORAN also said he had Alton (Illinois) on the agenda for today. CORCORAN said he could not go into the Streeter (Illinois) protest as he had promised to lay off if he received a 2 to 1 decision, but he will try to stall off for 2 or 3 weeks. 9:53 AM TIM MOONEY to BILL YOUNGMAN. TIM represents a Toledo firm constructing machines at $55,000 each for Russian Purchasing Commission. TIM said the Army and Navy cancelled but Russian Purchasing Commission will pay. YOUNGMAN said that the Russian credit is good and he recommended that the company complete the orders. 10:26 AM CORCORAN to EDDIE HIGGINS, in Senator GREEN'S office (R. I.) at the Capitol. HIGGINS said he has not heard anything from his friend (KRUG's secretary at W.P.B. ?) and has not had an opportunity to contact this friend yet. CORCORAN said he wanted American Inca too. HIGGINS will let him know. 10:28 AM CORCORAN to JIM CLEMENTS, in Senator PEPPER's office. CORCORAN said he had handled the Harvard matter (see yesterday's summary) by turning it over to NASON and YOUNGMAN, both Harvard men. CORCORAN also said that CLEMENTS should send a copy of PEPPER's message to PRICHARD, in addition to the three parties to whom CLEMENTS has already sent it. 10:55 AM MR. REILLY (GERARD REILLY at W.L.B. ?) returned CORCORAN's call. CORCORAN told him of a call received from LEVIS of Toledo. REILLY said fine and told CORCORAN that no exceptions were filed in the Alton matter. 11:13 AM CORCORAN to GEORGE McNULTY, St. Louis, Jefferson 1257. CORCORAN said the A. F. of L. had filed a vigorous protest on the Streeter, Illinois, matter this morning; that the Alton decision was handed down this morning. CORCORAN mentioned that probably McNULTY would want to call his "friend in the Tennessee mountains. CORCORAN wants MCNULTY to stall the regional W.L.B. director on the Streeter affair by claiming he's the new counsel and needs a couple of weeks to study the matter. 11:52 AM CORCORAN to WORTH CLARK, re HURLEY matter. CLARK is leaving on the 2 o'clock train for New York and he has the thing straightened out with TIM MOONEY. MOONEY will be at the Waldorf. HURLEY is leaving tonight and will stay at the Commodore. MOONEY and CLARK will meet the guys at TIM's suite at the Waldorf at 10:00 A.M. tomorrow. CORCORAN said that he was sending a guy down this afternoon on the Atlantic City matter.
