K: Blood was flowing everywhere.
R: It's the greatest thing that has happened. Gilda Meir came out with
a marvelous statement this morning.
K: It's the only thing we could do.
R: From my point of view this is fantastic. I said in the letter I would
not let that happen.
K: I am calling because you calledhim and he will be tied up with Wilson
R: I just want to thank him
K: Aren't you nice and I will tell him. He is tied up all day but I will
get to him sometime.
R: I am threll ed. I just like to reach out and thank somebody onee in a while.
It could have been for me (?).
K: I don't mind making grand stand plays if it helps peace in the Middle
East but if it hurts and makes more tension
R: I hope that veto sticks. He should have come on TV and explained why
he vetoed the tax bill and then he wouldn't have had to do this. I and weveral
others tried to tell him and even wrote him letters. Sometimes I wish he's
listen to hiss friends.
K: Our nightmare is that we will have a depression and recession simultaneously
R: I am coming down tomorrow for lunch with Fulbright. Just a quiet lunch
K:
How about 3:00
R: How are you before lunch? I may have to come right back here in the
afternoon.
K: I have the NSC and Wilson
R: I will call your secretary and let you know. I am seeing Marke today and
trying to make sure he doesn't run against Goodell.
K: I am seeing Buckley today
