George Sherman/Dr. Kissinger
12:35 p.m. - 11/4/72
K:
Hello.
S:
Dr. Kissinger?
K:
Yes.
S:
Well, as I explained to your secretary I'm having a hell of a
time with this story. I'm trying for Sunday to put something
together with a sense of proportion on the diplomatic side as
opposed to sort of the charges that are flying back and forth
on the political side.
K:
Well those charges are not worthy of comment.
S:

of the things that Ziegler had been saying on the record.
K:
I'm amazed that anyone after all
you can bet your bottom
dollar that I had something to do with drafting it.
S:
Right.
K:
I did not think there was anything new in the re.
S:
I agree with you. But you know the President---
K:
With the President diassociating himself from what I said.
This is off the record since I had a major hand in drafting
what he said, it's not very probable is it?
S:
Well I think the basic impression that's given leaving aside
the part that he's disassociating himself from you.
K:
Leave that aside. Has anything fundamentally changed since
my press conference, that's the important issue.
S:
I think the impression that we all got in the Thursday press
conference was that there were relatively insignificant issues.
K:
I said compared to the issues that have already been settled.
S:
What's happened in the week since is that the remaining
differences have steadily x emerged in the public mind as
