Dear Sig:
This is just a note to thank you for sending me the full
release of the March 16 Gallup Poll. The Washington Post carried
only a very brief account in its Sunday edition and, consequently, I
appreciated the opportunity of seeing the full text.
Incidentally, if you have any influence with George Gallup,
you might consider tactfully suggesting to him that he ought to run a
more flattering picture of the "new Nixon" along with these new results I
Your letter of February 4 is long overdue for an answer but
you may be sure I greatly appreciated your generous comments with re-
gard to my remarks at the dinner given by Mike Cowles.
In this connection, I was particularly pleased to learn that
the study made by Young and Rubicam confirmed some of the thoughts
I expressed that evening with regard to the manner in which television
can be used during a political campaign. I agree with you that it is
possible and certainly more effective to combine real drama and interest
in the way a candidate is presented.
You were certainly correct in your statement concerning the
misapprehension held by the public as to which branch of the government
has the power to reorganize the Pengaton. This problem has been dis-
cussed in several meetings recently and I am hopeful that action will be
taken in the immediate future to acquaint the public with the fact that this
is a responsibility of the Congress.
With every good wish,
Sincerely,
Richard Nixon
