November 20th,1929. Lauriston S. Taylor, Bureau of Standards, Washington, 4. - c. Dear Sir: We have your letter of November 6th, with reference to your communication of September 13th. Tie do not see how we can answer the questions you ask, since we discontinued the sale of radium to physicians and hospitals some three years ago, and therefore, have not been in close touch with the general radium situation since that time. The approximate amount of radium in use in this country is generally known and, it seems to us that the records of the Bureau of Standards covering measurements during the past number of years would be your most reliable source of information, since it is our belief that very little radium has ever been sold in this country without the certification of this bureau. It would seem that your Committee is primarily interested in the degree of protection to radium and X-ray users, and not in the general distribution of the product thruout the country. Very truly yours, President.
