A round archway, under which is a group of three women talking in the shade, while a man on horseback stands on the right. Across a light space we see a second archway and look down the street beyond it and down a second street outside the wall in which the arch is pierced. The surface is divided by horizontal lines into three parts, of which the uppermost and longest contains this subject, already finished except that the work stops short 46 mm. from the left end of the plate. Beneath it is a sketch of part of the Lido from the lagoon, and In the lowest compartment a rudimentary fragment of an architectural subject (Glasgow).
