Hiding above a huddle of steep-pitched roofs, a church tower stands out clearly against the waters of the Firth of Forth. On the right are gardens at the backs of houses in the little town of Culross. The plate has been cut at the right end to the length described. The distant hill, both to left and right of the tower, is now very light, and the upper outline has almost entirely disappeared. In a garden near the side of the plate on the right, two inches from the foot of the plate, is a man digging, rather Indistinctly drawn.
