My dear President Roosevelt:
Several weeks ago during the visit of Sir Roger
Keyes to the United States the Admiral expressed a definite desire that
I should send to you personally a copy of his book, "THE NAVAL MEMOIRS
OF ADMIRAL OF THE FLEET, SIR ROGER KEYES: The Narrow Seas to the
Dardanelles 1910-1915."
Admiral Keyes's book is going to you under separate
cover. I understand that the Admiral intends to send you a further copy
from England with his autograph.
It seems to me that Sir Roger Keyes's book is so
important that some measures should be taken by the United States Navy
X
to see that this book is available in its offices.

My dear Cookie:
Now I have a job for you sure enough. I know you will
not think me presurptuous for this is really an interesting
case. Let me tell you. Under separate cover I am sending you
an embroidered portrait of President Roosevelt on which a cer-
tain Korean woman worked for one year 16 hours a day. After
you have placed it in different lights you will see how splen-
didly the work is done.
Rev. W. M. Clark, D.D. is leaving for America this week
and is carrying the portrait to his home, from where he will
post it to you.
The young lady had a large frame on the picture but it
could not be carried that way, SO we have taken the frame off,
and I am going to ask you to have it suitably framed with the
understanding that you will send me the complete bill for all of
your expenses.
I am enclosing the following:
(1) Picture of President Roosevelt from which this
young lady made the portrait.
(2) Picture of the young lady.
(3) A letter written in Korean which she wishes to
accompany the gift to the President.
(4) A translation of this letter.

TO HIS excellency PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT!
I am but a girl of Korea-an admirer of Your Excel-

Since, however, it is very difficult to secure in

Dear Mr. President:
To express to you adequately their
gratitude for benefits received would of-
viously transcend the power 8 the
american people; t certainly would
transcend mine. Nor should L senture
to make the attempt.
There will be many authors who
will offer you what in their eyes at least
seems most valuable. yet not very
many - native- born americans- 1 will be
able to present to you a French book
composed by themselves.
Thus h beg you to overbook the
many shortcomings of the volume
and to accept t as a sincere homage

Hon. Franklin D. Roosevelt,
President of the United States of America,
Washington, D. C.
My dear President:
I am mailing you this day, under
separate cover, one of my mottoes, entitled:
"Our Roosevelt", symbolizing your great power as a
leader. Considering the unprecedented vote cast
in your favor last November 6th, and the expressions
chronicled throughout the nation, also in foreign
countries, praising you as the great physician to a
stricken world, I take this occasion to present to
you this epigram in deepest gratitude for your in-
comparable wisdom and foresight, your capacity for
and generosity in serving mankind, and, lastly, -
in appreciation of that most glorious honor you have
caused to be bestowed upon our own native land.
Wishing you and your fine family
the merriest Yuletide and the happiest New Year, I am
Very sincerely yours,
W: H Kuykendall.
