KERR, Admiral Mark
London, England
November 10, 1941
Wrote to the President commenting on the increased religious feelings in Russia, since
the President's appeal to Stalin to open the Churches of all denominations. Says he
received a letter from Marian Johnson, and heard that Aymar was well again and had gone
back to his work in Bermuda. Says she also sent him a copy of a letter she received
about the Oxford Group. Admiral Kerr sent her & copy of the full Official Debates in
the House of Lords and the House of Commons on this subject. Says these pamphlets show
the strong feeling of the Heads of all the Churches, and the Peers in the House of
Lords, in favor of allowing the Oxford Group to go on with their work. Mentions
King George II of Greece, and encloses a copy of an address given by the Greek Prime
Minister which shows how splendidly the troops, peasants, and their King behaved
throughtout the perilous time after Germany attacked them. Also encloses a Christmas
Card of his picture of Nelson, which is said by experts to be the finest picture of
him that was ever made. In a post-script Admiral Kerr says he has just seen his
cousin Lady Bettie Abingdon, who lately arrived from the U.S. and who said the Presi-
dent and Mrs. Roosevelt were wonderfully kind to her on many occasions. Encloses a
photograph of himself. Asks for a photograph of the President. - On Dec. 15, 1941,
Mr. McIntyre sent a memo to the President asking if he wants to send a signed picture
to Admiral Kerr. - On Dec. 15, 1941, the President wrote to Admiral Kerr thanking
him for his letter, and for the enclosures. Says he is happy to comply with the
request for a photograph. Extends holiday greetings on behalf of the President and
Mrs. Roosevelt.

Dear President;
Writing you these few lines letting you know that I
am mailing you a little curio made out of a coconut and
used as a bank. It is made to put only pennies and dimes.
This is a gift from me to your youngest grandson.
It was made by me and beleive it or not I am stone blind.
I make all kinds of coconut curios by feeling with my fingers.
As soon as you receive the gift I would be very glad
to hear from you.
I am truly your a loyal American,

Bank Instructions:
When the bank is filled please do not break it. On the
front end of the bank you will see a round spot of a different
color, press it in with your thumb and the washer will give in
and you can pour the money out. The hole can be covered again
by taking a little hook and pull out the washer that was
pressed in, clean out the plastic wood from the washer. On the
leather washer you will see a tiny hole, put a string through,
knot the end of the string and be sure that the knot is bigger
than the hole, bent the washer a little towards you put it in
the hole then pull on the string till the washer flushes to the
hole. Use a little plastic wood to cover the hole a little
above the level and let it stand for 24 hrs., after 24 hrs.,
smooth it a little with sandpaper.
