Ford Presidential Library\nFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE\nAPRIL 15, 1975\nOffice of the White House Press Secretary\nTHE WHITE HOUSE\nThe President today announced his intention to nominate Rex E. Lee, of\nProvo, Ut ah, to be an Assistant Attorney General (Civil Division). He\nwill succeed Carla A. Hills who was appointed Secretary of Housing and\nUrban Development on March 10, 1975.\nSince 1972, Mr. Lee has been Dean and Associate Professor at the College\nof Law, Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah. From 1964 to 1972,\nhe was engaged in the private practice of law with the firm of Jennings,\nStrouss and Salmon of Phoenix, Arizona. He was a law clerk to Justice\nByron R. White from 1963 to 1964.\nMr. Lee was born on February 27, 1935, in Los Angeles, California. He\nreceived his B.A. degree in 1960 from Brigham Young University . He\nreceived his J.D. degree cum laude from the University of Chicago Law\nSchool in 1963.\nMr. Lee is married to the former Janet Griffin and they have five children.\n#\n#\n#"
