His Excellency Dr. All Sastroamidjojo called on ne this
morning at 10:45 to present a copy of his Letter of Credence
as Ambassador of the Republic of the United States of Indo-
nesia, and a copy of the Remarks he intends to make when
received by the President at the White House.
I welcomed Dr. Ali to Washington and congratulated him
on the statesmanlike solution of the problem of his country' e
independence, and maid that it promised well for the solution
of other serious probleno now confronting his country.
The Anbassador replied that he greatly appreciated my
renarks. He also vished to convey to ne greetings from hia
Prime Minister.
In ansver to my uestion whether the unfortunate
Westerling Rebellion would be controlled, he said that he
thought it could be by Indonesian forces without delay.
I told the Ambassador that we had found Dr. Sumitro
very cooperative in his position of Charge d' 'Affaires, and
the Ambassador expressed his gratification.
