Miss Jaffin read me the following over the telephone, which it is proposed to send to Messrs. Barrett, Bundy, Earle, Feis, Fisher, Graham, Harriman, Jessup, Johnson, Nitze, Rusk, Sprout, if you approve. OK We had a brief discussion on September 9 of Aa. future plans for the seminar that Mr. Acheson has been conducting. We enclose a list of dates which have been chosen for the coming meetings, which will 5. be held at the Institute for Advanced Study and will U.S. SEPURDS CHATTONAL AND = run with appropriate interruptions frommid- afternoon of the first day to mid-afternoon of the second. With the exception of the November meeting, the dates are Saturday and Sunday. The November meeting will be on Thursday and Friday. It is planned at these meetings to discuss further the major substantive questions of foreign policy during the period 1949-1952. The first meeting will probably be devoted to the defense of Europe, the Military Assistance Program, and the role of Germany in the defense of Europe. It is planned to make available before each meeting a brief summary of the public history of the issues to be discussed.
