HARPER'S MAGAZINE Editorial Rooms HARPER & BROTHERS 49 EAST 33D STREET PUBLISHERS NEW YORK 16, N.Y. H B 19th November, 1959 Dear Mr. Acheson: Cass Canfield tells me that you have been serving as chairman of a series of conferences at the Institute for Advanced Studies on the way in which the major decisions of the Truman administration were arrived at. He added that there was some possibility that you might develop a book out of these discussions. Whether the book project ripens or not, it occurred to me that you might have some first rate magazine material as a result of these seminars. If you would be interested in developing any of it into an article-- or perhaps a series of articles--for Har- per's, might I have a chance to discuss this possi- bility with you. S. U.S. = SERVICES Sincerely, Jk tischor John Fischer/jo CC: Cass Canfield Mr. Dean Acheson Covington and Burling Union Trust Building Washington 5. D. C.
