Field Order #1: SEREEVICE Lambert Map 1720,000. 1 a- Batteries of the 139th F.A. will leave their positions t O remain at the Echelon until further ordered. The men will bivouac in the respective organization. b- The French Batteries will assure the mission of bar- rage and counter-preparation from lst Sept 18 o'clock. From this time until the movement of withdrawal the American Batteries will act in sup- port of the French Batteries. 2 The Commanding Officer of the 3nd Bn. will leave dur- ing the night 31 August- lst September and will assume command of the Echelon until the arrival of the Regimental commander. His Adjutant will remain at Larchey until the last Battery of his Bn has left for the Echelon, he will report his departure by phone, by code, to Regimental Hdqrs. 3 a All caissons and fourgons not needed will leave dur- ing the night 31st August but lst September. b One platoon of "F" Battery will be releived during the day lst Sept. The whole Battery will leave during the night, lst & 2nd September. Battery "F" will use the road by Ranspach and Oderen. C - Batte IY "D" will leave during the night 31st Aug- ust- lst sept., using the road Huss - Kruth. d - One platoon of Battery "E" will be releived during the night 31st August- lst Sept. the other platoon will be releived during the night September lst & 2nd. As soon as releived they will proceed to Echelon. e - Battery Commanders of positions being relieved (""" & "F") will make sure that their mission is filled by the relieving Bat- teries Before allowing their last platoon to leave their position. f- The Commanding Officer of each organization wil care- fully inspect his billets and position before vacation same and will be held responsible that they are properly policed and that no Gov't. Proper ty is left behind. 4 8.- All caissons wil be filled at Kruth lst sept. at such time and place 8.8 the supply Officer shalledi and designate. b - Ammunition will be filled in the following order: normal charge, shrapnel, and reduced charge. 10% shrapnel and all norm mal charge should be taken if possible. No Special shell will be taken. C quia The ammunition left at the position will be turned over to the nearest French Battery. An Inventory, in dupdicate, sign- ed by the Commanders of the relieving and the relieved Batteries will be made. d - All fixtures of the Batteries left vacant on ac- count of the de parture of the American Artillery should be left just as they were before. e N° All defense scheme maps, records &etc. will be turned over to the incoming orgenization. I - The tecephone lines wilh be kept in place as well as the section material for gas pmotection. gg - The necessary members for the different details telephone, intelligence, orientation & etc will remain at their respt. posts until such time as they are properly relieved, inthe evening lst Sept. h - The Regimental Commander will be at Payrou until
