My dear Mr. Forman:
I have for acknowledgment your letter
of recent date and sincerely regret that it is
not possible to do as you ask. So many requests
for autographs are being received that if the
President were to attempt to comply with them
he would have little time left for his manifold
official duties. Because he has had to refuse
regretfully in so many other instances, I feel
certain you will realize how difficult it would
be to make an exception.
Very sincerely yours,
MATTHEW J. CONNELLY
Secretary to the President
Mr. Mark Forman,
2201 South 22nd Street,
Philadelphia 45,
Pennsylvania.
