This document relates to a gift shipment of dates from Sheikh Abdul Kadar Bashayan, a member of the Parliament of Iraq, to President Harry S. Truman. The Department of Agriculture inspected the shipment and found it to contain a plant disease and date stone beetles. The dates had to be destroyed, which the Department of Agriculture reported to the President's staff.
