(REDEPTEL 417, May 1) SAC's reply which has been sent to Tito acknowledges receipt of the latter's message reported in our 1855 of May 2, Noon. He informs Tito that General Freyburg has taken Trieste and that the garrison of 7,000 Germans have surrendered. The message goes on to say now that SAC has possession of Trieste he intends to proceed with his plans as outlined in his conversations with Tito in Belgrade (REOURTEL 786 of March 2, Midnight), And he expresses confidence that Tito will cooperate with him. It is clear that Tito and the Partisms while un- doubtedly making good progress in military operations in Venezia Giulia are not attaining anywhere near what they are broadcasting they are taking and it is now SAC's intention
