BYNLTTH NARS Date 7.25.75
2572, June 11, 9 p.m.
Winterton, head BRIT Mission Vienna, (our 2557,
June 10) has reported some considerations affEcting sub-
division of Vienna.
In EAC Russians offered Tulln airfield which is best
(offer?)
field mission has SEEN WESt of Danube. This officer
may be withdrawn if Anglo-AMERS insist on subdivision
of Vienna gau as oppos ed to city. Winterton is under
impression Russians would agreE to allot additional
fields south of Vienna if our claim to gau is withdrawn.
If WE insist that BRIT and US sectors must contain
at least one all-weather field, it must be in Schwechat
district which would automatically give BRIT or AMERS
southern sector of Vienna city WESt of Danube which is
much damaged and bad area for accommodation. French
S.
would be prepared to accept this area.
