MEMOR.ANDUM FOR MR. HOPKINS:
At a meeting of the Commission
on Renovation of the Executive
held on September 6, 1951, I
formally invited the Commission's
attention to the fact that the
contract awarding the work to
the MCShain Company was dated
November 3, 1949. The
con-
tractor was directed to proceed
with the work on December 5, 1949,
that he was allowed 660 calendar
days to complete same and that under
said contract the completion date
would therefore be September 25, 1951.
Apparently formal action in this
regard has been initiated as evidenced
by the attached copy of letter from
a PBS representative to the McShain
Company dated September 10,1951.
The President may be interested in
the steps leading to a conclusion
of the matter.
