THE FOREIGN SERVICE
OF THE
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
American Embassy, Buenos Aires
November 9, 1948
My dear Mr. President:
Admiral Foskett, your former Naval Aide
and one of your great personal admirers, was
in here with the HUNTINGTON and the FOX and
spent a week; they sailed this morning for
Montevideo. He is a man of great ability and
charm, and his officers and men left a per-
fectly splendid impression with the Government
and the public here. It was a goodwill trip
of the finest kind, and in every respect, a
most successful one, and there were no unto-
ward incidents of even the slightest moment.
On two afternoons we loaned the Embassy
to the U. S. community here who gave recep-
tions for the enlisted men, and they were en-
thusiastic about the reception accorded them,
not only by the enlisted personnel of the Ar-
gentine Navy but also by the people on the
street and by everyone with whom they came
in contact.
I would say that the visit was perfect
in every respect.
Respectfully yours,
RECORDS
temmure
o
James Bruce
The President,
The White House,
Washington, D. C.
