Dear Mr. Prime Minister:
1 appreciated most highly your good letter of
October thirty-first and, after receiving it, I
instructed the Secretary of State to confer with
your Ambassador here and inform him that I am
in agreement with your proposal.
I am sincerely happy that this great project will
be carried to a successful consurnmation. One
of my first votes in the Senate of the United
States in 1935 was for the Saint Lawrence Seaway.
One of my last messages to the Congress covered
the Saint Lawrence Seaway project.
I am most happy that there is now a prospect of
its being built and completed by your Government.
Sincerely yours,
