In order to maintain political equilibrium it is necessary for him to appoint members of his cabinet from all the four parties. There are ten ministers of which three will be communists. He and his party are de- voted to the interests of all the people including labor which in Chile is under-privileged and under-paid considering the high cost of living. He compared his political philosophy with that of our New Deal democratic party, and he expressed the highest regard and admiration for North American principles and accom- plishments of democracy. He also expressed a strong dislike for Russian communism and said that we should not believe reports that he has any sympathy with communism that have been and will continue to be circulated by his political opponents. - 2 -
