5455 April 1, 1948 Personal and Confidential Dear Mr. Ambassador: I certainly appreciated your good letter of March nineteenth in regard to the speech of President Videla. It is very gratifying that he really didn't mean the remarks in the manner in which they were interpreted by the press. I am glad you liked the address to Congress on the seventeenth of March. I believe it will be helpful. Sincerely yours, ARCHIVES 'NATIONAL RECORDS AND SERVICE is HARRY S. TRUMAN Honorable Claude G. Bowers The American Ambassador Santiago Chile (Via State Dept. pouch)
