BIOGRAPHY
Sean Macoride, Minister for External Affairs, is
head of the small Republican Party which participates
in the Irish Coalition Government. He is the son of
noted Irish patriots and was a leader in revolutionary
activities before the age of twenty. He became Chief
of Staff of the outlawed Irish Republican Army after the
conclusion of the Irish Civil War and continued these
activities until World War II, when he split with the
more radical wing of that organization. He is considered
an outstanding lawyer, orator and political leader in
Ireland and has been mentioned as a possible future
Prime Minister. This is Mr. MaeBride's third visit to
the United States.
