BIOGRAPHY Sean Macoride, Minister for External Affairs, is head of the small Republican Party which participates in the Irish Coalition Government. He is the son of noted Irish patriots and was a leader in revolutionary activities before the age of twenty. He became Chief of Staff of the outlawed Irish Republican Army after the conclusion of the Irish Civil War and continued these activities until World War II, when he split with the more radical wing of that organization. He is considered an outstanding lawyer, orator and political leader in Ireland and has been mentioned as a possible future Prime Minister. This is Mr. MaeBride's third visit to the United States.
