f. Summary 7th Flt. carrier air strikes North Korea, 3 and 4
July: 3 July our 2 Yak-9's shot down, 2 Li=2's and 6 0-10's damaged on
ground; 45-50 aircraft sighted on Pyongyang many of which were dummies;
hangars at Haeju, Onjong, and Pongyang damaged; at Kyongui railyards south
Pyongyang, two locomotives and one freight train damaged. One operational
loss. (SECRET) 4 July - Three full air strikes and four jet fighter
sweeps launched against rail transport targets. One rail bridge destroyed,
two damaged; five bus loads of troops at Ongin strafed with unknown cas-
ualties; 12 locomotives destroyed and 11 damaged by strafing and rockets;
seven-car tank train strafed and left burning; track, rolling stock, and
installations in rail marshalling yards north of Pyongyang and Chinnampo
damaged by bombing and rockets; two gunboats on Taedong River damaged;
all strikes reported increased AA fire from 20-mm. and 40-mm. Two ship
aircraft damaged beyond ship repair by flak, and four damaged beyond ship
repair by barrier hop of flak damaged plane. Operation completed. Force
returning to Okinawa. (SECRET):
g. USS JUNEAU and HMS BLACK SWAN destroyed upper works
three small tugboats and partially destroyed bridge near harbor of Chum-
onshin. (SECRET)
h. Marine corps units ordered WESPAC will consist of one Regi-
mental Combat Team from 1st Marine Division, and one Marine Air Group
reinforced by one Marine Air Control Group. (SECRET)
1. Mine Squadron 3, consisting of one fleet minesweeper (AM) and
six motor minesweepers (AMS), was directed to cease minesweeping opera-
tions in inland sea and proceed to Sasebo. (SECRET)

The naval blockade of Korea will be carried out by a Western
Korean Support Group consisting of all British units including 2 light crui-
sers, one light carrier, 4 destroyers and 3 frigates; and an Eastern Korean
Support Group consisting of US ships, including 1 light cruiser, 4 destroyers,
plus 1 British destroyer and 1 frigate. (SECRET)
