C. In the Chungju-Tanyang area the enemy is attempting to
cross the Han River in the vicinity of Tanyang to strike the defending
8th ROK Division. At Ochiri, nine miles west of Tanyang, an enemy
force is proceeding east toward the 8th ROK position. The 5th NK Div-
ision now holds Chungju and elements of that division are probing south
on the vital Hamchang-Kumchon highway. (FECOM) (TOP SECRET)
d. Elements of the 15th NK Division are reported moving east
to reinforce enemy forces at Chungju. (FECOM) (SECRET)
e. At Yongdok on 8 July approximately 1,200 guerrillas armed
with U.S. M1 carbines attacked ROK troops but were repulsed. (FECOM)

f. Two Yak aircraft, attacking a flight of two F-80's north of
Chungju on 11 july, fired three bursts, then left when the F-80's took
evasive action. A U.S. liaison pilot was attacked by two Yaks over Um-
song. Unidentified aircraft dropped six bombs on Taejon on 11 July.

g. After conducting patrolling operations in the Yonil area, the
19th RCT was relieved by the 27th RCT, 25th Infantry Division and is
now enroute to Taejon by rail. (FECOM) (TOP SECRET)
h. As a result of heavy enemy attacks, the 21st RCT supported
by the 52d FA Bn and Battery B, 11th FA Bn, made tactical withdrawals
to positions in the vicinity of Songgong. (FECOM) (TOP SECRET)
1. The 34th RCT under the pressure of enemy tank, artillery
and infantry attack, has slowly withdrawn to defensive positions along
the north side of the Kum River in the vicinity of Kongju. (FECOM)

j. The 27th Infantry Regt and the 8th FA Bn arrived at Pusan.
The first element of the Advance Echelon, HQ, 8th Army arrived at
Taegu 1800/09 (KT). All major combat elements of the 25th Division
are expected to have arrived in Korea by 0900/13 (KT). (FECOM) (TOP

k. The Eighth Army has ordered the following operations:
(1) The 1st Cavalry Division is to load for movement to Korea; (2) the
