1. Weather:
Weather fair throughout the period. Forecast: Little change
central Korea. South Korea to have extensive middle cloudiness and OC-
casional light rain. Kyushu area to have tropical storm conditions with
surface winds up to 40 knots.

Negative.
3. Operations:
ENEMY SITUATION
a. Units in contact from west to east are reported as follows:
4th NK Division facing ROK police and marine units in Kwangju-Molpo=
Sunchon area; 6th(?) NK Division facing ROK police in Chinan-Muju-
Sanwon area; 3d NK Division facing 5th and 8th RCT's, 1st Cavalry Divi-
sion, in Taejon-Yongdong area; 2d NK Division facing 27th U.S. RCT in
Chongsan-Yongsan area; 15th NK Division facing 24th and 35th U.S. RCT's
in Chongchon-Yongyu-Yongam area; 1st NK Division facing Oti ROK Divi-
sion in Mungyong-Hamchang area; 8th NK Division facing ROK Capitol Divi-
sion in Yechon area; 7th NK Division facing 8th ROK Division in Punggi-
Yongju area; 5th NK Division facing 23d ROK Regiment, separate cavalry
regiment, and 21st U.S. RCT on east coast. All identified NK Divisions
are in the line except the 9th(?) NK Division which is in the Tojong-
Chungju-Mungyong area. Recent reports do not indicate the existence of
the 18th NK Division. (FECOM) (SECRET)
b. In the west coast area elements of the 4th NK Division were
forced back two miles to a position one mile east of Hadong. There are an
estimated 300 enemy troops at Imsil, 2,000 at Oam, and a force of 500 mov
ing south from Iri. (FECOM)(SECRET)
C. An estimated enemy force of 1,200, supported by artillery, is
reported 15 miles southeast of Chinan on the Chinan-Kochang highway.
