Washington, D. C. June 12, 1945 3:30pm WHITEY to BILL YOUNGMAN asking if "that letter of mine has been presented yet?" "BEY (Phon.) may do it, said BILL. They dis- cuss a route JACKSON and others may take in their tour of the other countries. WHITEY wondered about his visas. BILL said the trip was still set up "for Friday" and that Mc INTYRE is handling it for ATC. WHITEY said he did not trust "some of these guys. "McINTYRE called JIM, " said BILL, "and there is some question as to whether those on the tour will all re- turn to 'point. They also have to get some orders from AKER assigning the ship. BILL said the thing is still foggy. 3:40pm HENRY to CORCORAN telling him that he saw "that fellow up on the Hill' and he gave me all the details and I'll give them to you when I see you. CORCORAN says "Yeah. HENRY then says that "another thing, he showed me a letter from TOM CLARK and er, there was a lot of Republican opposition crystallizing on that article that appeared in the NEWS well, he crossed it off and he said that he wanted me and you to get credit for it because after all TOM, meaning the other fellow, is a nice fellow; and to tell you to call up CLARK and to mention his name to him; and to tell you to have TOM call him on Thursday and he would verify it all. 11 CORCORAN says he sees it. HENRY then says that he told him all about the other thing too and he said it was all going to be brought out on Lend Lease. CORCORAN says "O.K. " 3:50pm CORCORAN to CLARK at NAtional 4882. Not in but he will contact CORCORAN later. 4:10pm HENRY to CORCORAN saying that the "shadow called me up about that ELLIOT ROOSEVELT story." (Apparently in reference to Westbrook Pegler's 6/12/45 column disclosure about a $200,000 loan) CORCORAN said: "Well, GARY gave that out." HENRY said that is what the "shadow" wanted him to tell CORCORAN. 4:25pm YOUNGMAN to BEN COHEN. Not in. Left word that he should con- tact BILL YOUNGMAN. 4:30pm YOUNGMAN to Miss LIABEL in JUDGE VINSON'S office. COHEN left word that he could be reached in JUSTICE BLACK'S Office if it is urgent. YOUNGMAN tells her to call him and give him a message that TOM thought to "have DAN call FRANCES (Phon.) in the 1st instance about LULU, and then TOM will follow it." O.K. 4:31pm CORCORAN'S secretary asks for SENATOR CLARK. Not in, neither is Miss KIRKPATRICK. CORCORAN'S secretary says to have either of them contact her as she has a message for Mr. CLARK.
