e. North Korean forces also maintained pressure against the U.S. 25th
Infantry Division's position along the Hamchang-Sangju axis. 7 North Korean
tanks and 50 trucks are reported in the area 2 miles north of Chigong. Elements
of the 1st North Korean Division engaged units of the 6th ROK Division in the
vicinity of Chigong in a light fire fight. (FECOM) (SECRET)
f. The 18th ROK Regiment was forced to withdraw from positions in the
vicinity of Yechon by pressure of 2 North Korean regiments, possibly from the
8th Division. An enemy road block six miles east of Yechon threatens friendly
lines of communication. The enemy forces subjected friendly forces in the

g. The enemy continued to put up heavy opposition to the 3d ROK Division

h. Guerrilla activities are reported in the Taegu area. One captured
guerrilla states that their main mission is to disrupt communications and to
kill officers in Taegu and Pusan. ROK labor party members cut electricity
poles between Taegu and Sangju. 21 members of the Taegu labor party have

U.S. ARMY
1. The 1st Cavalry Division is moving to the vicinity of a line north and
south of Kumchon to defend Kumchon and the road from Kumchon to Waegwan.
The 5th Cavalry RCT (reinforced) forced the enemy to withdraw to the vicinity
of Chirye. The 7th Cavalry RCT repulsed an enemy attack in the second bat-
talion sector southwest of Kumchon. The 8th Cavalry RCT continued to defend
north of Kumchon toward Hwanggan against heavy enemy pressure. The 3d
Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment (less Task Force Perry), supported elements
of the 5th Cavalry RCT along an extended road block position southwest of
Chirye. (FECOM) (SECRET)
1. The 24th Infantry Division CP moved from Hyopchon to Changnyong.
The division continued to delay the enemy advance in its zone. A heavy enemy
attack forced the 19th RCT to withdraw east of Chinju. The 1st Battalion, 29th
Infantry Regiment was last reported located at Sanchong. The 21st RCT (less
3d Battalion) defended a position west of Kwonbin. The 34th RCT consolidated
its position east of Kochang and defended against an increasingly strong enemy
tank and infantry attack. The 34th RCT apparently then withdrew through the
21st RCT (minus) to its new position two miles west of Kwonbin. The 17th ROK
Regiment arrived in the division area for operational control and moved to an
area north of Togam where it came under heavy enemy pressure. (FECOM)
