I don't know how true it is, but I got assurances\nfrom the guy that ought to know of the thing about your\nfriend that I've been telling you. That he was going\nin is so.\nL--JIMMIE?\nC--Yeah.\nL--I hope it's true. And there's talk\nof JOE DAVIES tonight. there's lots of talk around.\nL--Does JOE DAVIES go to Secretary of State?\nC--Yeah.\nL--By God, he'd be a beaut.\nC--Yeah but I'm quite sure it's the other, and there are an\nawful lot of collateral indications.\nL--Have you seen BEN?\nC--Yeah.\nL--What does BEN think of it?\nC--Well, he won't say it in so many words but he's saying it in\neverything but words.\nL--I haven't seen JIMMIE, Tommy, in a month.\nC--He's certainly hanging around under awfully suspicious cir-\ncumstances if it isn't.\nL--Well, he's here, but he doesn't see anyone.\nC--Yeah, I know. I think that's policy.\nE--Well, do you think he'd see me?\nC--I should think so. You received your invitation from SOONG,\ndidn't you?\nL--Yes, and I'm going to try to go. Who's going to be there,\nTommy?\nC--I don't know.\nL--This testimony is going to upset me terribly. We've got\nLend Lease on.\nC--I think he just wants to see you to thank you before he\ngoes away. He's going on Friday.\nL--You think I could run out there and see him a while and get\naway before dinner?\nC--I don't think so.\nL--Well, I'll see you tomorrow after I get back from the Hill."
