CORCORAN then told\nCOHEN that for some reason it made a difference to FRANCIS\nwho showed up at the farewell cocktail party being given for\nhim at the Statler at $3.00 or $4.00 a head. CORCORAN wants\nBEN to call 'PRICH' and to round up as many people as he can.\nCORCORAN is willing to pay for all. PEGGY will meet BEN and\nCORCORAN in the hotel lobby and they'll go together.\n3:43p.m\nCORCORAN to Mr. HOBSEN to ask about the building for rent.\nCORCORAN stated that he needs another floor badly and would\nlike to rent one over which HOBSEN has control.\n3:50p.m.\nDONALD (an Assistant of WHITING WILLAUER, ASSISTANT ADMINIS-\nTRATOR, FOREIGN ECONOMIC ADMINISTRATION), to JACK NASON asking\nif the latter had read the Generalissimo's speech. No. They\ndiscussed lend-lease to China, Congressional action and the\nWall Street Journal article on lend-lease with mention of the\nfact that the Communists will get none. They agree the\nCommunist question is getting hot. DON said he gave WILLAUER\na memo from which the latter testified and the Journal story\nis based on that memo. DONALD stated that he learned today\nthat H. H. KING was ordered back by the Generalissimo. He\nadded that Madam Kung (phonetic) may accompany him. DONALD\nmentioned that H. H. had lunch with CROWLEY recently. He\ntold NASON about the details of some of WILLAUER's cables\nrelating to decisions made by T. V. SOONG and agreements\nbeing made by the American Government with the Chinese.\nDONALD said that he had done nothing on the consumer goods\nprogram because he was waiting for WILLAUER.\n4:00p.m.\nROBERT BERGER to CORCORAN who was not in. BERGER will call\nback about 5:00 P.M.\n4:10p.m.\nANNETTA BEHAN contacted Brentano's Book Store to say that she\nwanted to know if there was a book entitled \"Mother Russia\"\nby MAURICE HINDUS for $1.49 and also W. L. White's \"Report\non the Russians\" for $2.50. OK.\n4:15p.m.\nSWANDMAN (phonetic), New York City, to CHARLES MacPHEE WRIGHT\nto discuss pension plan and fact he has sent photostatic\ncopies to IRWIN's office. They discuss lease agreements\nand royalty free licenses."
