DONALD (an Assistant of WHITING WILLAUER, ASSISTANT ADMINIS-
TRATOR, FOREIGN ECONOMIC ADMINISTRATION), to JACK NASON asking
if the latter had read the Generalissimo's speech. No. They
discussed lend-lease to China, Congressional action and the
Wall Street Journal article on lend-lease with mention of the
fact that the Communists will get none. They agree the
Communist question is getting hot. DON said he gave WILLAUER
a memo from which the latter testified and the Journal story
is based on that memo. DONALD stated that he learned today
that H. H. KING was ordered back by the Generalissimo. He
added that Madam Kung (phonetic) may accompany him. DONALD
mentioned that H. H. had lunch with CROWLEY recently. He
told NASON about the details of some of WILLAUER's cables
relating to decisions made by T. V. SOONG and agreements
being made by the American Government with the Chinese.
DONALD said that he had done nothing on the consumer goods
program because he was waiting for WILLAUER.
