CO SUMMARY Washington, D. C. July 14, 1945 8:40am CORCORAN to GEORGE KILLIOM (Democratic National Committee) at the Wardman Park Hotel. CORCORAN asked if KILLIOM is going to have the meeting with SAM (RAYBURN ?) today. KILLIOM said he is. CORCORAN said he would be in his office all day. KILLIOM said he thought he would take HARRY over and CORCORAN said he thought it would be a good idea. CORCORAN said that KILLIOM "ought to get that on the record and then there's no fumbling of what did happen and what didn't happen and it doesn't get fuzzy with time. I'm sure I'm right about that." KILLIOM agreed and said, "HENRY came right out cold and said, 'Well, this is just exactly what was said. III CORCORAN said, "It will stop it for good and for all; otherwise they will always sort of have something on you." CORCORAN continued, "About the thing you were talking about- where you went over and found that two people were in it. Did you go any further on that? The thing I talked to you about-- Mr. PRIM's (Phon.) problem." KILLIOM said, "Yeah. I think that stands pretty much as it was, and I think that PEPPER will be happy. CORCORAN said, "Yeah. Well, come through on your way over to that other thing. I'll be there all day." O.K. 8:47am CHARLES MERKESON (Phon.) to CORCORAN. I don't know what reports, if any, you got back yesterday, but apparently the thing is moving along at breakneck speed along the same line that we always feared. I went out last night to dinner with that boy. C--Yeah? M--And he says that Number One has been on his neck for three days to get that thing out--a second draft of it, exactly the same as it's always been in our mind--and he gave it to him yesterday afternoon late, just before he left. And he said, boy, Number One has really been pushing him to get that thing out. C--MY trouble is, you see, I don't trust the reports I get with relation to Number one because I think Number One lies when he gets in a hole like that. M--Well, all right. But I'm just telling you what's been going on from C--Yeah. Well, I wouldn't be surprised. M--Well, I just wondered what kind of dope you were getting back, or whether anybody had done anything to head it off. C--The dope that you're gettingbad is good, but as between you and me, I don't trust the dope you're getting back more than,
