CO SUMMARY Washington, D. C. July 14, 1945 3:20 PM GEORGE KILLIOM of Democratic Committee to TOM CORCORAN. GEORGE said that the meeting is set for 2:30 P.M., Monday, so "I'm going over." TOM said he'd like to 'rehearse' a little before he went over. He said it's "always good to coach the witness." GEORGE will see TOM at 2:00 P.M., Monday. GEORGE said, "Now the other day we were talking about this fellow coming up north of the Rio Grande." TOM said he hadn't found out anything because DAVE (CORCORAN) was away, but he'd have the information for GEORGE Monday A.M. GEORGE said HALLECK (Congressman CHARLES A. HALLECK ?) just called on it. DAVE, said TOM, wants to cross examine this man first because he knows these fellows. GEORGE suggested "bringing him up to Kansas City" and TOM said a "Mexican is a Mexican" and GEORGE asked if 'he' was a Mexican whereupon TOM said, "The right kind of a guy is a Mexican, you see." TOM said that DAVE suggested getting any engineer from Kansas City who can be trusted. GEORGE said it would be possible to have KEN go to Kansas City and "look at the guy." TOM said "Did you go over to see his nibs, the number one guy," and GEORGE said, "The fellow was in here this morning and I went over the whole thing again with him. He called 'his nibs' at home, talked to him there and I heard what he said over the phone. So I'm seeing 'his nibs' on Monday." TOM said, "That means it's held and nothing will happen over this weekend." 3:30 PM CORCORAN to (JAMES P.) McGRANERY at Justice Department, who is out of the city until tomorrow night. TOM spoke with "GUS" who gave him this information and said TOM could call McGRANERY at the Shoreham tomorrow night. 3:40 PM CORCORAN to GEORGE KILLIOM of Democratic Committee. C - GEORGE? K - Yes, sir. C - I was so interested at what was happening at 2:30 that I only half listened on the rest of it, I mean about your own problem. When this fellow called from your place today did he get substantially the same answer that you reported to me the other day? K - He said that this fellow had told him that the matter had all been tied up with blue ribbons, and that in the light of this new information, in the light of this new request, he would review it again and attempt to go along. He talked to him again C - Yeah. Well, if it were all tied up in blue ribbons, then my guess was right. K - That's right. C - It had been tied up in blue ribbons wrong. K - It had been tied up wrong. BETTY (?) told him again that the matter was being untied and a new colored ribbon was being tied around it. C - Well, no he didn't say that. What he said is what you told me before, that he would attempt to untie it.
