- 3 - 12:47 PM JOE PANUCH to TOM CORCORAN (Continued): JP - Yeah--this is on this State Department stuff, ah--to what happened over there with McCABE (phonetic) where they gave JIMMY the works. I think it's something you ought to know. TC - All right, 2:30, goodbye. 12:59 PM TOM CORCORAN to ABE FORTAS. The following conversation took place: AF - Hello. TC - ABE? AF - Yes, sir. TC - I just-I had MAC chasin' up this talk that (ROBERT) KENNY (A.G. of California) had the other day. I find out that when KENNY was talkin'--this is about the RITTER business- AF - Yeah! TC - When KENNY was talkin' about people peddling interest they were not about RITTER and they were not about the tidelands. They were about this Valentine script which is being peddled and peddled and peddled with allegations of inside connections with the Interior. You see, you can't peddle this tidelands stuff because you have to sell an undivided interest. AF - That's what I thought. TC - But the script is the thing that KENNY was thinking about and he was all confused about the damn thing. AF - Well, I've.heard that story for many months. TC - Yeah, okey. AF - You know who's supposed to be in on it? TC - PAULEY? AF - Yeah and it's supposed to be pretty widely disseminated among important people. TC - Yeah. AF - I don't know whether it's true or not. TC - Yeah, okey. TOM asked when ICKES would be back. TOM said, "I was thinkin' about Monday morning." ABE did not know when he would return. 4:00 PM MR. LEO CROWLEY to TOM CORCORAN. The following conversation took place: LC - Hello. TC - I went over last--this morning. I carefully pointed out to our friend DON, the Herald Tribune, and told them that you'd held the thing over last night. didn't know how much longer you would hold it. LC - Yeah. T C - I also went down last night and told a Democrat about it--that was BURT--I also saw to it that a Republican was told about it this morning-TAFT.
