1. Weather:
Considerable low cloudiness at 3,000 feet over all of Korea. Visibility
unrestricted except in showers. Forecast: Similar conditions, with cloud
levels somewhat lower. (FEAF) (SECRET)
Soviet weather stations at Zaliv-Kresta, Mys Shelagskiy, Ostrov Vrange-
lya, Mys Shmidta, Anadyr, Big Diomede Island, and Provideniya Bukhta (all in
Siberia) are reported to have discontinued the transmission of weather reports
as of 1 August. Information from these stations had been useful to U.S. weather
agencies in the preparation of weather charts and forecasts. Transmission
from other stations in the area will continue to provide information for fairly

2. Soviet Participation:
Negative.
3. Enemy Situation:
a. An enemy concentration of unknown strength in the vicinity of Tundok
was attacked by friendly air. An estimated enemy regiment is reported in the
vicinity of Kosong and a similar force in an area about 1 mile southwest of
Wonbung. Twelve enemy trucks are reported moving east up the valley in the
vicinity of Pongam. The enemy continues probing friendly lines in an attempt
to determine U.N. dispositions. (FECOM) (SECRET)
b. An enemy attack 6 miles west of Yongsan on the 9th U.S. RCT was
repulsed with the aid of friendly air. The situation remained stable during the
night in this area with enemy activity limited to patrolling. (FECOM)(SECRET)
c. Unconfirmed reports indicate that up to 20,000 enemy replacements
arrived in the Hyopchon area about 14 August. The enemy is reported con-
structing a bridge across the Naktong 5 miles southeast of Tuksong. There
are indications that the enemy is reinforcing its bridgehead 7 miles southeast
of Tuksong and is being engaged by elements of the 23d U.S. RCT. an undeter-
mined number of enemy troops who crossed the river 1 mile northeast and 2
