1. Situation in Brief:
Three North Korean regiments engaged the 1st ROK Division in the
most determined delaying action encountered since the capture of Pyongyang.
After a bitter struggle that temporarily cut the main supply route and threat-
ened to envelope the Division, ROK troops routed the hostile forces. Three
miles northwest of Onjong, the 2d Regiment of the 6th ROK Division has been
surrounded by an enemy regiment; the 19th ROK Regiment is enroute to assist
the isolated unit. Elements of the ROK Capitol Division captured Tanchon,
while other elements, battling a strongly resisting enemy battalion, drove over
a mountain pass at Myongdangdok. Elements of the 3d ROK Division, advancing
north to secure the Chosin Reservoir, was within 10 miles of Hagaru. In the
Wonsan area, Naval surface units maintained patrols and stood by for support
operations. Carrier aircraft provided combat air patrol over the forces ashore.
Minesweeping operations continued in the area. Naval air sorties totaled 119.
On 26 October, U.N. aircraft under FEAF control flew 331 sorties including

2. Weather:
A cold front in the Pyongyang=Wonsar area caused broken to overcast
low, middle, and high clouds. Visibility 8 miles, lowering to 1 to 3 miles in
light rain and snow showers. Forecast: Scattered low clouds over all Korea,
visibility 10 miles. (FEAF)(SECRET)
3. United Nations Situation:
GROUND
a. U.S. I Corps: The Corps' Command Post opened at Anju. Ele-
ments of the 1st U.S. Cavalry Division captured 4 railroad cars of rifles and 3
railroad cars of small arms, 4 miles east of Pyongyang. In the 24th U.S. In-
fantry Division sector, the 27th British Commonwealth Infantry Brigade ad-
vanced to the vicinity of Kasan® The 5th U.S. Infantry RCT was crossing the
Chongchon River. The 1st ROK Division in the vicinity of Unsan was attacked
from 3 flanks on 26 October, but the enemy was repulsed. Qn-27 October, the
