restored positions. The 7th ROK Division closed in Yongwol after several
days of hard fighting, during which the Division reported the complete an-
nihilation of one North Korean battalion including the staff. In the U.S.
I
and IX Corps sector west of the Han River, elements of the 1st ROK Divi-
sion repulsed 2 small probing attacks 13 miles southeast of Osan and en-
gaged an estimated company located within 1 mile of friendly positions in
the same area. On the west coast, THESEUS flew 49 sorties in close sup-
port and reconnaissance. Surface units conducted gunfire support missions
and maintained blockade patrols. U.N. aircraft under FEAF control flew
690 sorties. (FECOM) (SECRET)
