Weather: Throughout Korea the weather for 7 February was scattered low clouds with occasional patches of broken low clouds. Visibility was good. Forecast for 8 February: Broken to overcast middle clouds throughout Korea with scattered to broken low clouds along the coastal areas. Mini- mum temperatures in the battle area will be 12 degrees F. (FEAF)(SECRET) 2. United Nations Situation: GROUND a. U.S. I Corps: Tank-Infantry Task Forces in the 25th U.S. Infantry Division area again conducted hit and run attacks. Task Force Bartlett (2d Battalion 27th U.S. Infantry RCT, reinforced) encountered sizeable enemy groups on each three-pronged thrust 3, 4, and 5 miles west of Anyang during attacks on 6 February. Task Force Dolvin (1st Battalion, 27th RCT, reinforced) reported insignificant contact during its advance 1 mile north of Anyang. The task forces were heavily engaged 7 February 4 miles west of and 1 mile north of Anyang. Other 25th Division elements maintained their positions and patrolled, contacting large enemy groups in the area from 2 miles west of Anyang to 2 miles east of Anyang. Elements of the 24th J.S. Infantry RCT repulsed a three-hour night attack 6 miles southwest of Anyang. In the 3d U.S. Infantry Division area, the 65th U.S. Infantry RCT seized objectives 6 miles north and northeast of Suwon against light resistance. The 7th U.S. Infantry RCT advanced to areas 6 and 4 miles southwest of Kyongan, meeting stiff resistance 5 miles southwest of the town. The 15th U.S. Infantry RCT remained in reserve. U.S. IX Corps: 1st U.S. Cavalry Division: The 8th U.S. Cavalry RCT repulsed a counterattack by an enemy battalion 4 miles south- west of Kyongan on the afternoon of 6 February, and held positions for the night from that area along a line 6 miles to the southeast. The 7th U.S. Cav- alry RCT advanced against light resistance to a line from 3 miles southeast of Kyongan extending 4 miles to the east. Early on 6 February, elements of the 7th Cavalry RCT repulsed an attack by an enemy battalion 4 miles soth- the 7th Cavalry RCT repulsed an attack by an enemy battalion 4 miles south- west of Kyongan after four hours of bitter fighting, inflicting losses estimated at 300 KIA on the enemy while sustaining friendly casualties of only 1 KIA and 7 WIA. 24th U.
