Weather: 1800/08 (KT) to 1800/09 (KT): Overcast middle clouds and broken to overcast low clouds in all areas, Visibility restricted in light snow showers. Forecast: 1800/09 (KT) to 1800/10 (KT): Improving conditions becoming mostly clear with good visibility by early morning. (FECOM) (SECRET) 2. United Nations Situation: GROUND a. Eighth U. S. Army. The advance toward Seoul continues, with resistance light in the U.S. I Corps zone and moderate to heavy in the U.S. IX Corps zone. In the U.S. X Corps zone, ROK units repulsed two sizeable counterattacks and withdrew under a third enemy attack, other units continue to advance. The ROX Army moved forward along the en- tire Eastern Sector, gaining 10 miles on the east coast as the enemy with- drew. (FECOM) (SECRET) b. U.S. I Corps. 25th U.S. Infantry Division: Gains of up to 3 miles were made against little opposition, except along the Suwon-Seoul highway where Task Force Dolvin drove the enemy from the area 2 miles north of Anyang, but withdrew for the night after encountering stiff re- sistance 3 miles north of Anyang. Air strikes and artillery fire inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy. The 24th U.S. Infantry RCT advanced behind Task Force Bartlett to positions 7 miles west of Anyang. The Turkish Brigade advanced to positions 5 miles northwest of Anyang. The 35th U.S. Infantry RCT secured positions along a line 2 miles north and northeast of Anyang. The 15th ROK Regiment drove an enemy group from positions 3 miles northeast of Anyang and advanced to a line 4 miles north- east of Anyang. On 9 February, the 25th Division continued the attack, moving forward unopposed. 3d U.S. Infantry Division: No enemy contact was reported on 8 February, as the 65th U.S. Infantry RCT advanced to 10 miles north of Suwon and the 7th U.S. Infantry RCT advanced to 7 miles west of Kyongan.
