Weather: On 13 February, the weather over Korea consisted of broken to overcast middle clouds south of 39N and scattered low clouds through- out the area. Visibility was restricted to 5 to 7 miles because of hase. Forecast for 14 February: Broken to overcast middle and high clouds, scattered to occasional broken low clouds throughout Korea. Visibility 6 miles, decreasing to 3 to 5 miles in haze, light rain and snow showers. Minimum battle area temperature will be 23 degrees F. (FEAF) (SECRET) 2. United Nations Situation: GROUND a. U.S. I Corps: 1st ROK Division: The 12th ROK Regiment completed the relief of the 24th U.S. Infantry RCT and elements of the Turkish Brigade and established positions on the Kimpo peninsula along a line from 3 miles southwest to 3 miles east of Kimpo. 25th U.S. Infantry Division: The Turkish Brigade is on a line from Kimpo east to the Han River. The 35th U.S. Infantry RCT remained in position on the south bank of the Han between Yongdungpo and Seoul. The 15th ROK Regiment is on the south bank of the Han south of Seoul. The 24th U.S. Infantry RCT is assembling 4 miles west of Anyang, with elements still on security mis- sions at Kimpo airfield. The 27th U.S. Infantry RCT has moved to a new assembly area at Anyang. 3d U.S. Infantry Division: The enemy offered light resistance as the 7th U.S. Infantry RCT advanced 2 miles to a line 3 miles northwest of Kwangju to 3 miles northeast of Kwangju; elements of the 7th RCT engaged two Chinese Communist companies 6 miles northwest of Kwangju. The 15th and 65th U.S. Infantry RCT's held their positions, but elements of the 65th RCT moved to 4 miles northwest of Kwangju. An enemy group estimated to number 4,500 was observed moving west 10 miles east of Seoul. The 29th United Kingdom Brigade relieved the 5th U.S. Cav- alry RCT and established positions from 1 mile southeast of Kwangju to 2 miles north of Kyongan; an armored patrol ranging northward reported no enemy contact. U.S. IX Corps: 1st U.S. Cavalry Division: The 8th U.S. Cav- alry RCT attacked against moderate resistance and established a defense perimeter north and south of Kyongan; elements engaged an enemy battalion 1 mile northeast of Kyongan.
