Weather: Korean weather consisted of broken to overcast low and mid- dle clouds with frequent rain and snow showers. Visibility good, except 1-3 miles in showers. Battle area temperatures ranged from 35 to 45 degrees F. Forecast for 30 March: Scattered low clouds becoming bro- ken along west coast. Visibility 10 miles. Battle area temperatures will range between 26 to 48 degrees F. (FEAF)(SECRET) 2. Enemy Situation: Resistance stiffening on I and IX Corps front. Units up to esti- mated regiments encountered. Enemy buildup continued in central sector. East of IX Corps sector enemy contact extremely light or none. (FECOM) (SECRET) 3. United Nations Situation: GROUND a. General: Eighth Army continues steady advance in I and IX Corps zones. East of Chunchon, the front remained relatively quiet. (FECOM)(SECRET) b. I U.S. Corps: 1st ROK Division elements patrolled ag- gressively from previous positions. Determined enemy groups of com- pany-size were contacted north of the Imjin River. Activity south of the river limited to small scale patrol clashes. 3d U.S. Infantry Divi. sion: The 65th U.S. Infantry Regiment and 10th Philippine Battalion ad- vanced to positions 8 miles southwest of Sochon against negligible resis- tance. The 187th Airborne RCT, attacking against stubborn resistance by an estimated enemy regiment, seized the high ground and secured ob- jectives 7 miles west-southwest of Changgo. Belgian Battalion relieving 187th RCT on 29 March, will assume. mission of securing Division right flank. 25th U.S. Infantry Division: 24th U.S. Infantry Regiment units made slight gains against determined opposition by an estimated enemy reinforced battalion in the area 6 miles southwest of Changgo. The 35th U.S. Infantry Regiment advanced against light resistance to positions astride the Uijongbu-Changgo highway 3 miles south of Changgo. The M
