Weather: Korean weather, during the period 31 March to 2 April, consisted of broken to overcast multilayered clouds with intermittent rain, becoming scat- tered high and middle clouds over extreme north Korea and broken to overcast over central and lower Korea. Visibility was 2-4 miles in the central area and -less than 10 in the north. Battle area temperatures ranged from 35 to 60 degrees F. Forecast for 3 April: Generally clear over north Korea, with broken and scattered middle clouds in central Korea. Visibility unrestricted. Battle area temperatures will range between 35 and 40 degrees F. (FEAF) (SECRET) 2. Enemy Situation: The enemy continues sporadic but determined rear guard action. Mine- fields slow up the advance in some sectors. The buildup in rear areas continues with 2082 vehicles sighted during the night of 1-2 April of which 1601 were moving south. During period 1-27 March, 10, 793 enemy KIA (reported body count) and 1604 PW's. (FECOM) (SECRET) 3. United Nations Situation: GROUND a. General: I and IX US Corps units advanced up to 6 miles while re- mainder of the Eighth Army front continues quiet. (FECOM) (SECRET) b. I US Corps: 1st ROK Division elements established positions along the east bank of the Imjin River in an area 5 to 10 miles north-northeast of Mun- san. No enemy contact was reported other than sporadic small arms fire. The 29th British Commonwealth Brigade moved from the vicinity of Seoul to an as- sembly area 9 miles north of Uijongbu; at the close of the period elements of the Brigade were in the line south of the Imjin River 7 miles west of Sochon. 3d US Infantry Division units advanced to the Sochon area against light to mod- erate resistance. The 65th US Infantry Regiment is in position 3 miles west- norhtwest of Sochon and the 7th US Infantry Regiment is astride the highway 2 miles south of the town. Heavily mined areas in the 7th Infantry zone of oper- ations disabled 3 friendly tanks. The 25th US Infantry Division attacking against light to moderate resistance advanced to positions 5 miles northwest and 5 miles north-northeast of Changgo. (FECOM) (SECRET) On CRE, y
