1. Weather:
Broken middle and high clouds over North Korea cleared during
the afternoon of 4 April. Forecast: Clear over North Korea during 6
April (FEAF) (SECRET)
2. Enemy Situation:
Enemy resistance continued generally light. An estimated 800 enemy
troops were killed in a diversionary attack northwest of Munsan. Increased
number of minefields encountered north of Chunchon. Vehicle_sighting in
enemy rear areas dropped to 804 due to adverse weather. (FECOM) (SECRET)
3. United Nations Situation
GROUND
a General: The 24th and 25th US Infantry Divisions are at the
36th parallel in the I US Corps sector. IX US Corps units north of Chun-
chon advanced up to & miles, Aggressive patrols continue to probe enemy
positions, (FECOM) (SECRET)
b. I US Corps: 1st ROK Division elements conducted a diversionary
attack northwest of Munsan. Three JPW's taken with enemy casualties esti-
mated at 800 KIA. The 7th US Infantry Regiment advanced unopposed along
the Uijongbu-Sochon highway to positions at the 38th parallel. 26th US Infan-
try Division units, attacking against light resistance, gained a miles and
occupied positions at the 38th parallel. The 24th US Infantry Division ad-
vanced up to 3 1/2 miles with little or no enemy opposition in the area 10
miles northeast of Changgo. Division units are in position at the parallel.
An Armored Task Force ranging 3 miles north of the 38th parallel encountered
small arms and artillery fire 11 miles.south of Karogae. (FECOM) (SECRET)
