1. Weather:
Scattered low clouds throughout Korea with an overcast of middle
and high clouds during the day. Visibility 7 miles, temperatures 32-58
degrees F. Forecast: Overcast middle and high clouds in the north, low
overcast in the south with rain showers. Visibility 4-6 miles in haze and
light rain, occasionally reduced to 1 mile, temperatures 40-55 degrees F.

2 Enemy Situation:
No significant enemy contact in and IX Corps sectors. Estimated
enemy company engaged and dispersed as US Task Force advanced
on
Hwachon Reservoir Dam. Determined resistance up to regimental strength
encountered in X Corps zone. The supply build-up continues with 1859
enemy vehicles reported during tnigh of 9-10 April. Majority moving south
to forward areas. (FECOM) (SECRET)
3. United Nations Situation:
GROUND
a. General: I and IX Corps units generally maintained positions and
patrolled. A Task Force enroute to the Hwachon Reservoir Dam is within 2
miles of its objective. X Corps units forced a crossing of the Choyang River
and are expanding the bridgehead northwest of Pupyong. (FECOM) (SECRET)
b. I US Corps: 1st ROK Division: No change in positions. Patrols
attempting to cross Imjin River were repulsed by intense small arms fire.
The 29th British Commonwealth Brigade and 7th US Infantry Regiment are
attacking to the north against light small arms fire. 25th US Infantry Divi-
sion units maintained positions and patrolled up to 2500 yards under sporadic
mortar and artillery fire. The 24th US Infantry Division remained in place
while combat patrols engaged stubbornly resisting enemy groups up to batta-
lion size. (FECOM) (SECRET)
c. IX US Corps: 6th ROK Division units maintained positions and
patrolled without enemy contact. 1st US Cavalry Division units adjusted
positions against light enemy resistance and dispatched a Task Force to se-
cure the Hwachon Reservoir dam. An estimated enemy company, defending
the narrow strip of land between the Reservoir and Pukhan River, was dis-
persed by air strikes and artillery support. The 1st US Marine Division
remained in assembly areas and is scheduled to relieve the 1st US Cavalry
Division on 10 April. (FECOM) (SECRET)
