Weather: Clear to scattered high clouds with 4-6 miles visibility. Battle area temperatures ranged from 34-62 degrees F. Forecast: Clear becoming broken middle clouds with 3-5 miles visibility in hase. Battle area temperatures will range from 34-64 degrees F. (FEAF) (SECRET) 2. Enemy Situation: Enemy activity during the period was light to non-existent across the UN front. The strongest enemy resistance was encountered in the vicinity of the Hwachon Reservoir Dam. (FECOM) (SECRET) 3. United Nations Situation: GROUND a. General: UN forces continued the offensive with I and X Corps units reporting advances of from one to four miles. A task force of the 24th US Division advanced along the (Jijongbu-Kumwha - highway approximately ten miles. A US Marine Division task force advanced to the Hwachon Dam making strong enemy contact. I US Corps: 1st ROK Division maintained previous posi- tions and patrolled with minor contact 4 miles north of Imjin River. 3d US Division patrolled to the north; 65th Regt relieved Philippine Bn and occupied positions west of Yonchon. A 3d. Division task force received enemy fire in the area 5 miles west of Yonchon, and a 65th Infantry patrol made light contact on the Chorwon highway 3 miles north of Yonchon. A 24th US Infantry Division Task force advanced nearly 10 miles toward Kumwha, along the Uijongbu-Kumwha highway. Other 24th and 25th US Infantry Division elements advanced 2 to 4 miles against light to no resistance in their zones during the period. (FECOM) (SECRET) Card 8
