1. Weather:
Scattered to broken low, middle and high clouds throughout the
period. Visibility was good except in rain showers. Temperatures
60 to 87 degrees F. Forecast: Overcast high clouds, scattered low to
middle clouds becoming broken by end of period. Visibility 4 to 6 miles.
Temperatures 64 to 80 degrees F. (FEAF) (SECRET)
2. Enemy Situation:
Hostile activity during the period was generally limited to numer-
ous patrol clashes across the front. Fighting was heavier in the vicinity
of Kumhwa, where the enemy launched 2 counterattacks, also in the Sohwa
area, where battalion - strength enemy groups opposed friendly advances.
An estimated 240 rounds of enemy artillery fell on ROK positions west
of Kansong on 15 June. (FF.COM) (SECRET)
3. United Nations Situation:
GROUND
a. General: Friendly units patrolled aggressively, probing
7 miles north of Chorwon, in the I US Corps sector, and 17 miles north
of Kansong, on the East coast. ROK units advanced up to 5 miles in the
Sohwa area, making contact with other friendly elements attacking west-
ward from the Kansong area on the right. (FECOM) (SECRET)
