H b. I US Corps: Fatrols from the 1st ROK Division and the British Brigades probed across the Imjin River without contacting the enemy. 25th US Infantry Division patrols engaged platoon size enemy groups west of Yonchon. IX US Corps: Squad to platoon strength enemy groups attacked 2nd and 6th ROK Division positions at 4 points. One of these attacks forced a 6th Division OP to withdraw, while the others were repulsed. Naval and Marine aircraft flew a total of 238 combat sorties, of which 19 were by shore-based USMC, 167 by aircraft from PRINCETON and BON HOMME RICHARD on the east coast, and 52 by GLORY arcraft on the west coast. Carrier aircraft flew 59 defensive sorties, and 160 other offensive sorties, striking targets from the Wonsan area northward to Song- jin, and on the west coast in the vicinity of Sariwon. 1st Marine Air Wing flew no close support sorties for 1st Marine Division. (COMNAVFE) (SECRET) g. On the east coast, HUBBARD, THOMPSON, and EVANS fired on transportation facilities and other military targets at Songjin and Chongjin. CUNNINGHAM, BLUE, and O'BRIEN fired on troop concentrations, gun posi- tions, and transportation facilities in the vicinity of Wonsan.
