1. Weather:
Scattered to broken high clouds over all Korea. Isolated patches
of middle clouds. Scattered broken low clouds decreasing during the
period. Visibility good. Forecast: Broken high middle and low clouds.
Visibility three to five miles. (FEAF) (SECRET)
2. Enemy Situation:
Hostile groups of company- to battalion-size stubbornly resisted
a friendly limited attack north of Sohwa and engaged UN patrols in sever-
al sharp encounters south of Kumsong, in the center of the front. Air
observed new and serviceable bridges on the Kumhwa-Changdo road, and
a large number of half-tracks hauling field guns (estimated as 120-mm.
caliber) moving south in the vicinity of Pyongyang, (FECOM) (SECRET)
3. United Nations Situation:
GROUND
a. Friendly forces continued to attack north of Sohwa and
made a slight advance. ROK and British Commonwealth troops launched
a limited attack across the Imjin River in the extreme western sector
and probed deep into enemy territory east of Kaesong. Elsewhere, UN
patrols maintained contact with hostile forces. The 1st Battalion, 34th
US Infantry Regiment, has arrived in Korea and is attached to the 25th
US Infantry Division, I US Corps, for operational control. (FECOM)
