1. Weather:
Broken high and middle clouds with overcast low clouds along the
east coast, and broken low clouds over the rest of Korea. Visibility
good, except in rain showers. Temperatures 74 to 89 degrees F. Fore-
cast: Overcast high with broken to overcast middle clouds. Visibility
good except in rain. Temperatures 75 to 90 degrees F. (FEAF) (SECRET)
2. Enemy Situation:
Hostile company- to regimental size groups offered very stubborn
resistance to friendly attacking forces north of Yanggu. The enemy
launched several strong counterattacks at friendly positions in this sec
tor, forcing some withdrawal. Enemy groups of company- to battalion-
size resisted other UN advances in the east-central sector. Light to
moderate resistance was encountered in other sectors across the front.
An estimated 667 rounds of hostile mortar and artillery fire fell on
friendly positions in the I US Corps sector. Air observed a total
2,217 enemy vehicles, of which 923 were moving south. (FECOM) (SECRET)
3. United Nations Situation:
GROUND:
a. General: United Nations forces continued their limited
attack in the east-central sector and made slight gains northeast of
Yanngu, but were engaged in heavy fighting east of the Pukhan River and
in the Sohwa area. (FECOM) (SECRET)
