Weather: Multilayered clouds in all Korea with ceilings of 1,000 feet. Visi- bility 1/2 to 6 miles in rain. Forecast: Scattered high and broken middle and low clouds, clearing slightly during the period. Visibility 8 miles except in rain. (FEAF) (SECRET) 2. Enemy Situation: Hostile resistance continued stubborn north of Yanggu and Sohwa in the east-central sector, where battalion size groups launched determined counterattacks and forced some friendly withdrawals. Heavy mortar and artillery fire was received on 1st US Cavalry Division positions in the western sector and on 2d US Infantry Division positions northeast of Yanggu. No enemy vehicle sightings were reported. (FECOM) (SECRET) 3. United Nations Situation: GROUND: a. General: UN forces continued to attack high ground objectives in the east-central sector and fought bitterly to hold previous gains. Friendly artillery fire was placed on numerous enemy targets and stopped a hostile advance north of Yanggu. Elsewhere across the front, UN patrols main- tained contact with small enemy groups. (FECOM) (SECRET) b. I US Corps: Patrols from the 1st ROK and 1st US Cavalry Divisions encountered squad- to platoon-strength enemy groups across the Imjin River and in the area west of Chorwon. Elements of the 1st British Commonwealth Division attacked across the Imjin and reached positions eight miles west of Yonchon.
